Ep. 60 - You Shouldn’t Have to Go to Medical School to Heal | Shawngela Pierce

from The Shari Leigh Roberts Podcast

Why should someone have to go to medical school just to understand what is wrong with their body and how to heal? That was the question that changed the direction of Shawngela Pierce’s life.Raised in Detroit, Shawngela learned early to suppress her emotions, stop crying, and do whatever was necessary to survive.Years later, while serving in the Army Reserve and attending college, she developed chronic asthma and severe chemical sensitivities. Her health continued to decline until she was using an inhaler several times a day—and specialists told her the condition would only worsen.Shawngela refused to accept that prognosis. She knew she could heal, even though she didn’t yet know how.Her search led her to naturopathic medical school, where she began exploring the whole person instead of treating the body as a collection of separate parts. As her physical health improved, she started questioning why healing seemed so complicated—and why even holistic practitioners could offer completely different approaches. Those questions opened the door to a profound spiritual awakening.Through meditation, transformative books, and a growing relationship with her divine team, Shawngela discovered that her calling extended beyond traditional medicine. She was here to help people reclaim their power, trust their inner guidance, and reconnect with the divine wisdom already within them.In this conversation, Shawngela and Shari explore medical sovereignty, the connection between unresolved trauma and physical health, outgrowing relationships, releasing the need to rescue others, and learning to co-create with the divine.Shawngela’s message is beautifully simple: You are loved. You are a divine being. The light already shines within you—you only need to open the door.CHAPTERS00:00 Welcome and Introduction02:55 Childhood Trauma and Suppressed Emotions07:35 Illness, Medical Sovereignty, and the Mind-Body Connection19:12 How Physical Healing Sparked a Spiritual Awakening28:51 Outgrowing Relationships and Releasing the Rescuer Role32:23 Divine Guidance, Co-Creation, and Coming Home to YourselfConnect with Shawngela and explore her services and spiritual retreats at SeekWithinYou.com and on most social media sites.Connect with Shari:WebsiteInstagramLinkedInYouTubePurchase Shari's book -📖 Book: Broken to Enlightened (Purchase at most online bookstores or on Shari's website at shariroberts.org/my-book/.
