Ep. 61 - PBC - 1 Peter 1:22-2:3 AI, Human arrogance vs. the Spirit, New life in Christ

In this episode, Pastor G + T tackle a "new" thing, AI. While the complexity and power of AI has grown, the idea that man can create its own "god", or create its own "life", or have all the answers with enough information and time, that idea is as old as time itself. Specifically, it echoes the very machinations of the people building the tower of Babel, a tower reaching to heaven. However, while humans believe they will transcend their limitations, the Bible makes clear that we will never escape the curse of sin and destruction without the power of God. To receive that power, we have to look outside of man's wisdom or power, and instead rely completely on the power of God given to human beings through the Holy Spirit. God promises to send him into our hearts through His Word and the Sacraments. In this section of 1 Peter, Peter specifically reminds us of Baptism that empowers us to begin a new life in Christ. He also describes some of the other things God's power allows us to transcend. Those include death itself, decay and the trappings of temporary pleasure at the price of soul destroying sin. By God's power, we can overcome temptation, stand firm in these last days, and rise with Christ at the End. Thanks be to God!
