EP 623: Seeing Our Own Dysregulation + Seeing Our Foibles With Compassion
from Showing Up To Life · host Art Burns
At least for today, we’re back to the two-segment format! Yesterday, I talked about how we can see someone in dysregulation and recognize - and accept - that they are struggling with something and even if we don’t know what that something is, we can be compassionate and supportive. For the good of ourselves and the other person. In today’s first segment, I flip the script and talk about how we can see our own dysregulation and hold it in soothing compassion. While soothing ourselves is always important, even more importantly, we can use this moment of self-acceptance to find the root of our own dysregulation. Hint: most of the time we don’t have to look very far! Remember, if it’s hysterical, it’s historical!!! In today’s second segment, I tell a personal story of a goofy little habit of mine. In the past, I wouldn’t call it goofy at all! In the past, I would berate myself over it and take away my ability to show up and live my life. In the segment today, I tell you a little trick I use to help me with this process. I hope you enjoy the episode!
