This week we speak with Wayne Osgood, a professor emeritus at Penn State University's Department of Sociology and Criminology. Wayne walks us through his early career and how he became a criminologist. Then we talk about one of his signature pieces, a 1996 publication in American Sociological Review, "Routine Activities and Individual Deviant Behavior." Finally, Wayne gives us his thoughts on the field and where we should go moving forward.
