EP 63: Part 5A -Solo Archery Elk Hunting...Calling Strategies (1st half)

from ElkBros Blue Collar Elk Hunting · host Gilbert Ornelas, Joe Giglia, Leroy 'Chav" Chavez & RC Knox

To successfully fill your tag as a Solo Archery Elk Hunter, it takes a culmination of skills, abilities and knowledge. Elk Hunting Coach, Joe Giglia, has taken 34 public land elk with his bow in the last 36 years. When asked about the secret to consistently filling his tag each year, he is quick to state that the first and foremost number one reason for his success is his calling knowledge and ability. Calling is the number one tool in the bag for a solo hunter to create opportunities. Understanding when and how to use those calls is what separates the percentages of those filling their tag once every five to ten years, from those taking their elk consistently almost every season. Today's Part 5A of our Solo Archery Series on Calling Strategies and Techniques is so full of content, right at two hours, that we had to split it into two parts. Along with our ElkBros Shoutouts, the first half of the episode covers: Two common mistakes  Problem with the Challenge Bugle Being effective as a beginning caller Easiest and most effective calls not used Turning a basic bugle or cow call into an advanced call Specific Solo guidelines and philosophy Understanding Bull Elk Modes The Double Bugle Engaging or Ignoring A tight setup Coming up next: Part 5B of our Calling Strategies & Techniques. One hour of nothing but Techniques, Strategies and Scenarios. Eeeeeuuuuugh! PLEASE - Rate and Review our show on Apple Podcasts or iTunes. Not an ending, but an occurrence that changes those it happens to?In Kurt Vonnegut: Reporter on the Afterlife, Vonnegut skips back and forth between life and the Afterlife as if the difference between them were rather slight. In light hearted interviews with Sir Issac Newton, Adolf Hitler, Isaac Asimov, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, William Shakespeare, Joan of Arc, and Kilgore Trout, among others - Vonnegut trips down “the blue tunnel to the pearly gates” in the guise of a roving reporter for public radio, all the while dodging the crotchety bureaucrat, Saint Peter.Kurt Vonnegut: Reporter on the Afterlife, began in 1999 as a series of 90 Second interludes for WNYC, New York City’s public radio station.
