Ep 66: Rent (musical) with Caitlyn Cerza

from How Star Wars Is It? - Not Really a Star Wars Podcast · host How Star Wars Is It

Hello Hsweeties and listenerds! First things first, we wanna say Black Lives Matter, and we hope everyone is staying safe and healthy in these crazy times. As we mentioned in the message at the beginning of the show, we're donating to the Chicago bail fund to help protesters who have been arrested and to the Minnesota group Take Back the Block which focuses on getting city funding away from police and towards actual community resources. Click those links to donate. Or click here to find the bail fund for your city and here for other groups across the country working to build up black communities and stop police violence. We've never been super shy about our politics on the show, so if this bothers you, send us an email, and maybe we can talk about how this isn't a political issue, this is life and death for black people. Now for the show notes!  It's the first week of June-sical theatre month and we're talking about Rent! The musical, not the concept. Mike and Josiah are musical theatre nerds anyway, but neither of them has a big connection to the show Rent, so we brought in some back-up: Caitlyn Cerza, actor, musical theatre artist, and conveniently, Mike's girlfriend who lives in the same place as him! So no quarantine guidelines were broken! Yay! We were so glad to have Caitlyn back, because she truly does not care about Star Wars, and it helps ground us every time sh's on the show. We dig into our Rent journeys, nerd out about musicals in general, and Josiah debuts a game that Mike and Caitlyn pass with flying colors because they respectively know the songs "We Didn't Start the Fire" and "La Vie Boheme" far too well.   If you have any comments or suggestions, you can email us at [email protected]. Or hit us up on Instagram and Twitter @howstarwarsisit. You can also follow Mike @MikeGospel and Josiah @TheJosiahMan, and our guest Caitlyn on instagram @kiki_cerza. It IS private though, so she WILL have to approve you.  And don't forget to rate and review on iTunes, or wherever you get your podcasts! And if you REALLY like the show, feel free to check out the link below to support us in a monetary way! We love those dollars and cents baby.
