Duryodhana accused Bhishma of not fighting wholeheartedly. Provoked, Bhishma launched a fierce attack, overwhelming the Pandavas. Seeing this, Krishna attempted to intervene directly but was stopped by Arjuna, who then fought Bhishma with full vigor.
