Send us Fan Mail Frank and Jacque talk about the five basics of pool care that every person that takes care of a pool should do to reduce costs and make it simple.Swimming pool maintenance, pool algae, pool chemistry, chlorine, water chemistry, pool circulation, pool filtration, simple pool care, easy pool maintenance, pool filter, pool pumps, pool skimmers,00:00- 09:25 introduction09:26- the fab 5. do these 5 basic things to make maintenance easier and save yourself money. keep it simple11:40- water chemistry, test chlorine, ph, alkalinity weekly at a minimum. test calcium, tds, cya, and verify salt level monthly at a minimum. maintain a good LSI, or water balance. be sure to calculate water temperature in your water balance. keep chlorine at 7.5% of cya level, with borates of 40 to 50 ppm, keep chlorine at a minimum of 5% of cya15:25- circulation is critical in maintaining your pool. turn entire pool clockwise or counter clockwise. adjust returns or change out returns to ones that are more directional to accomplish better circulation. algae loves dead spots.19:24- filtration, it removes organics and contaminants from the pool body so your chemistry does not have to deal with it in the body of pool. make sure the volume of water in the pool passes through the filter at least 2 times per day, the more the better. know your clean filter pressure and monitor it. clean and backwash filter as needed. dirty filters reduce flow in the pool. know the sound of the filter pump when it is operating well so you recognize when there is an issue.24:04- remove debris from the pool. dead organics release nutrients into the water that feed algae. keep your pool clean. keep flower beds and mulch away from the pool. keep skimmer baskets emptied. empty pump baskets. replace broken skimmer baskets and pump baskets.26:23- brush your pool walls and raised flat areas weekly or on a regular basis. cleaners do not do enough of scrubbing that is needed in your pool. algae attaches to the walls. some pool finishes have many little crevices that algae can be protected in. brushing helps remove protective layers of algae and gets the algae into the water where good chemistry can kill.30:00 recap Please give us a 5 star rating and a review, and contact us at [email protected] for questions and show ideas.
