No. I think they are following protocol to cover their butts, and they just trust medicine and believe birth is a dangerous event verses a natural physiological thing that needs help with natural physiological things when it does needs help. They definitely don't believe hands off approach is the best approach. From endless ultrasounds, 5 minute prenatal visits, inductions at 39 weeks based on a biased and flawed Arrive Trial, they follow ACOG guidelines blindly. This thinking and way of practicing medicine is causing an immense amount of trauma to both mothers and babies all over our country. The United States has the 3rd WORST maternal and fetal mortality rates in the WORLD! Direct from the CDC website- "The maternal mortality rate for 2021 was 32.9 deaths per 100,000 live births, compared with a rate of 23.8 in 2020 and 20.1 in 2019."So protocol has gotten worse and the practitioners need to see WHY this is happening, because our bodies haven't just decided to give birth differently. I believe they think a mother who asks for an "all natural" birth is a difficult client. They smile and nod at the 1st visit and by week 38 they have thrown the birth plan out the window and they really don't allow a mom to spontaneous labor up until 42 weeks. Induction is the leading cause of C Section. If you want a natural birth in a hospital, learn how to advocate for yourself.
