from The Legal Yogi Podcast

Welcome to The Legal Yogi Podcast! I’m Vanisha, here to help you manage stress, find balance, and stay present in your busy life. In this episode, we’ll explore the power of intention setting and how it differs from traditional New Year’s resolutions. By focusing on ongoing personal growth instead of complete overnight transformation, we can embrace a more mindful approach to starting fresh. I’ll share some of my favorite rituals, like using tarot for reflection, cleansing your home, and performing a releasing ceremony to let go of the past and invite new energy into your life. Together, we’ll balance the structured demands of daily life with intuitive practices to create meaningful, intentional beginnings.IN THIS EPISODE:[0:45] Let’s discuss ways to start the new year by looking at our intentions[2:22] Vanisha shares one of her rituals - Tarot[4:44] Tarot calls to you[7:23] Cleanse your house to create balance[10:46] Discussion of a releasing ritual KEY TAKEAWAYS: It’s important to set intentions rather than resolutions for the New Year. She began her yoga journey in 2017 during her 1L year at Georgetown Law. The first year of law school is the hardest and is often the gateway for the bad habits that run high among legal professionals. Lawyers are at an extremely high risk of alcoholism, drug abuse and dependency, anxiety and depression, so Vanisha turned to yoga to avoid falling victim to one of the former. It was here on her mat where she found peace, which led her to want to bring this to her law school community. Vanisha became a certified instructor during the summer of her 2L year of law school and began teaching classes on Georgetown’s campus in the fall of her 3L year. Upon graduation, she obtained her 300-hour certification in 2020 and moved back to Austin, where she teaches yoga and practices law as a 5th-year associate at a law firm.
