Ep 7 | The Depth That Sensitive Hearts Carry
from Rise & Realign: Conversations for the Sensitive Soul
If you are grieving a loss, anticipating a transition, or have been told you are too much or too emotional, this conversation is for you. We explore the depth of caring that defines the sensitive soul, why withdrawal is often a nervous system signal of safety, and how fierce love creates both profound connection and anticipatory sorrow. Last week we turned toward the body and listened to the messages it has been sending instead of treating them as malfunction. This week we stay with the depth of the heart that carries those messages, the love that feels so much, and the grief that can arise from caring so fiercely. What Arose in This Conversation The Depth of Caring: Sensitivity is not a flaw. It is a depth of caring that is beautiful and tender. It is the way we love fiercely and connect deeply. It is a gift that we grew up in a culture that didn't always honor. Withdrawal as Safety: When we withdraw or retreat from social gatherings, it is not because there is something wrong with us. It is our nervous system saying, "I am not feeling safe." It is a protective mechanism, not a defect. No One Knows What It Feels Like to Be You: No one else has the right to tell you what you should or shouldn't do. Your inner guidance is doing its best to guide you. Grief and Anticipatory Sorrow: For sensitive souls, grieving and anticipatory sorrow are active and real. When we love so fiercely, it hurts deeply when someone we love is going through a difficult stage or has transitioned. Allowing the Tears to Flow: We do not need to wait for someone else to hold the space for us. Being with ourselves, talking out loud, journaling, or recording our voice allows our nervous system to relax and our breathing to deepen. The Lesson of My Brother: At nineteen, I was completely shocked when my brother died in a motor vehicle accident. I didn't think I would recover. My mother taught me a profound lesson: she was grateful for the twenty-three years she had with him. She chose love and presence. That helped me immensely. Love Heals and Connects: It doesn't matter whether someone was in our lives for a short time or a long time. It is about the impact they had on our lives. Love heals. Love connects us. Love is alive. We can connect with each other through our hearts, where our memories live. An Invitation to Carry With You As you listen, or as you reflect afterward, what grief or sorrow are you carrying that you have been trying to push to the side?
