Willy served in the Australian Army as an infantry soldier with the 7th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment. with a deployment to Afghanistan. Upon return on his 22nd birthday, he received a diagnosis of terminal brain cancer. He started what’s become a hugely popular Instagram page @willy.beating.cancer documenting his journey of physical and mental health as he fights his illness, increases awareness of it and raises money for it. Since discharging the army Willy found passion creating content for his followers in which led him to become an independent freelance war correspondent spending months in the Ukraine documenting the war between Ukraine and Russia, providing no nonsense reporting and showing the realities of a modern conventional war all while battling terminal brain cancer.
