New York City-based designer Brent Neale Winston’s love of jewelry began while attending gemshows with her mother near her native Baltimore. After graduating from Johns HopkinsUniversity (where she made jewelry by hand as a hobby), and with the encouragement of thelate jewelry historian and InStyle editor, Penny Proddow, Winston received an associates’degree in jewelry design from the Fashion Institute of Technology. There, she honed her designand rendering skills under esteemed professors, such as the late Maurice Galli of HarryWinston. Brent's formal jewelry career began at Kara Ross, New York, where she worked directlyunder the eponymous designer, eventually becoming the jewelry director. After eight yearsoverseeing design and product development of over 25 collections, including runwaycollaborations with Tory Burch, J. Mendel and Naeem Khan, Winston left to concentrate on her growing family and to make her own mark in the jewelry industry with her namesake line.
