One of the points that Helene makes is that can't exist outside of its context - you can't build a Gothic cathedral in Times Square. She grew up in Borough Park, married a rabbi, lived as a traditional rebbetzin. Then she took a turn and became one of the leading feminist artists of her generation, with a particular interest in the Bible, Jewish women and the identity of God.
