Ep 74: Employer Sponsored DPC with Dr. Suzanne Morgan
from Voices of Women Physicians · host Tatyana Reznik MD, FACP
Dr. Suzanne Morgan is a board-certified family medicine physician who earned her doctorate of osteopathic medicine in 2004 at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Feeling burned out after 11 years in fee-for-service practice, she sought out opportunities that would allow her to care for patients and practice medicine in a way that maximized patient success and wellness while providing a better work-life balance for her. In 2018, she moved to an employer sponsored direct primary care model that allowed her to care for patients and pursue leadership within that organization. In January 2022, she moved to PeopleOne Health as Chief Medical Officer, continuing to practice family medicine. A primary motivation for her to continue in leadership is the ability to educate and offer the opportunity of employer-sponsored direct primary care to colleagues in primary care. Some of the topics we discussed were:What direct primary care is and how it can be employer sponsoredHow much time Dr. Morgan usually has for appointments and how many patients she sees per dayHow quickly patients can get an appointmentProviding labs, medications, and imaging studiesHow the employer covers the cost so that the patient doesn’t pay out of pocketWhat happens with coverage if the patient needs to be admitted to the hospitalWhat steps to take to find such a groupIf something similar exists for pediatricsAny downsides to this modelLessons she learned along the wayIf you can do telemedicine visitsHow specialty care works with the modelIf there is a difference in charting and notesAnd more!Learn more about me or schedule a FREE coaching call: https://www.joyfulsuccessliving.com/Join the Voices of Women Physicians Facebook Group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/190596326343825/Connect with Dr. Morgan:[email protected]
