Text Dr. Lenz any feedback or questions As the year 2022 comes to a close,  I want to thank all of you, the listeners and supporters of the podcast. Your encouragement means a lot. I also want to thank all the guests from this year. You have taught me a lot, and your wisdom has helped and will continue to help those struggling with the invisible illness of fibromyalgia and other related conditions. For the last podcast episode, I chose one of the most popular guests and topics from 2022. There were so many outstanding guests and great topics. So it was hard to choose just one. I chose the interview with Dr. Bill Dodson on the subject of ADHD. I edited the interview from over two and a half hours to just over one hour and kept all of his wisdom. Treatment of fibromyalgia is a multifaceted multimodal approach. There is no magic pill or treatment. In fact, the largest chapter in my book discusses the role food can have on fibromyalgia and disorders of gut-brain interaction, like functional abdominal pain and irritable bowel syndrome. Dr. Dodson has dedicated his career to helping those with ADHD and helping teach the medical community about another invisible illness affecting many people. The two most stigmatized and misunderstood conditions I see are fibromyalgia-related problems and ADHD.Questions answered in this week's episode includeWhat are the symptoms of ADHD?How does the ADHD brain operate compared to the neurotypical brain? How common is ADHD in those with fibromyalgia? How is ADHD best treated? How safe are stimulants for the treatment of ADHD?What is rejection-sensitive dysphoria? Is ADHD an optional diagnosis? Is it optional whether a doctor diagnoses it, and is it optional whether it is treated? What are the potential consequences of untreated ADHD?Why did Dr. Dodson get interested in treating ADHD?Dr. Lenz is an internist, pediatrician, lifestyle medicine physician, and clinical lipidologist interested in helping those with fibromyalgia and related problems go beyond just learning to live with it and even reverse fibromyalgia. Office visits are short, but understanding complex, often misunderstood conditions like fibromyalgia takes time. That’s why I created this space: to offer education, validation, and hope.  If you’ve been told fibromyalgia “isn’t real” or that it’s “all in your head,” know this—I see you. I believe you. This podcast aims to affirm your experience and explain the science behind it. Whether you live with fibromyalgia, care for someone who does, or are a healthcare professional looking to better support patients, you’ll find trusted, evidence-based insights here, drawn from my 29+ years as an MD.Please remember to talk with your doctor about your symptoms and care.
