Ep 76: Martine Kei Green-Rogers Nominates Outkast's "Stankonia"
from This One Goes to 11 · host Tyler Esselman and Michael Osinski
We're back, baby! After a nice summer break, we're feeling so fresh and so clean - or maybe that's just Michael's body wash - and WE ARE IN THE SAME ROOM TOGETHER! It's the first in a series of in-person recordings we made this summer in Chicago, and we're talking with the Queen of the Blue Demons herself - Dr. Martine Kei Green-Rogers - dramaturg and dean of The Theatre School at DePaul University (formerly the Goodman School of Drama). She's bringing the 2000 album Stankonia by Outkast before the tribunal, though her musical taste and knowledge goes far beyond the Atlanta hip-hop duo. Did she run into some of the Smashing Pumpkins on the streets of Montreal? Yes. Did she witness Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood buy PG Tips in a market in Oxford? Yes. Are we insanely jealous of her? Maybe. But we kept our cool, and we think you'll enjoy our first episode of season 7! Theme music composed by Damien Figueras. Got a question, comment, or suggestion? E-mail us at [email protected].
