EP 78 For Us, or Against Us?

Send us Fan MailThe Bible reflects the character of God in many ways. Sometimes thru  descriptive text passages, and sometimes we learn thru stories of people encountering Jesus, angels or miracles. The book of Joshua chapter 5:13-14 says something interesting. 13) Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?”14) “Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?” Did you catch it? The subtle point that the Lord told Joshua he was not on his side or anyone else’s!We have been losing sight of that characteristic of God for centuries. God does not belong to anyone .In today’s culture, a great deal of time is spent declaring what side we’re on, talking about who we are, or what we stand for.
