In a sobering conversation with the Chino Y Chicano, she talks about the rise of domestic extremist groups in the United States such as the Oath Keepers, Proud Boys, Neo-Nazis and militias,  and their threat to democracy and communities of color. As a graduate student, Cooter spent three years embedded in Michigan militia groups, observing how they recruited and trained people.
