Ep 81: Elisabeth Condon Describes a Christina Ramberg Retrospective

Welcome back, Elisabeth! This time I am very excited to be speaking to Artist, Elisabeth Condon, about one of my favorite Chicago Imagists: Christina Ramberg. The Art Institute of Chicago recently mounted a retrospective of Ramberg's work and Elisabeth travelled to see the show this past summer. She spent time telling me about her favorite works, but also offered insight into Ramberg's personality and teaching style - as Elisabeth was her student in graduate school at SAIC in the late 80's. Ramberg is known for her small but tightly-wound acrylic paintings of disembodied women: truncated torsos, legless high heels shoes, floating suits, and body-less corsets, but also produced quilts and a series of satellite paintings shortly before she died at 49 of Pick's disease.
