Al festival di Sanremo si decide qual è la canzone italiana più bella dell'anno, mentre al festival dell'Eurovision partecipano ben 40 Paesi europei e si decide qual è la canzone europea più bella dell'anno.All'Eurovision c'è una prima semifinale, una serata alla quale partecipano 17 Paesi. Ogni Paese porta un cantante o un complesso, cioè una band che si esibisce, vale a dire canta e suona la sua canzone. Alla fine della semifinale c'è una votazione internazionale e 7 nazioni vengono eliminate. I 10 Paesi che passano la semifinale partecipano poi alla finale.Alla seconda semifinale partecipano 18 nazioni Anche in questo caso ogni Paese porta un cantante o una cantante o un complesso o band che canta una canzone.
