When Eric Shaw Quinn submitted his comedic novel about gay parenting to publishers in the 1990's, many were shocked. One editor dismissed SAY UNCLE by saying "You and I simply don't see the world in the same way, Mr. Quinn." Today, such words could get you cancelled and gay parenting has gained such wide acceptance as to be common place. But how much progress have we truly made when it comes to depictions of gay people on screen? To find some answers and with a nod to Father’s Day, Christopher and Eric looked to the recent film IDEAL HOME, in which stars Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan play a hilarious pair of reluctant gay dads.
