Ep.83 - Little Britain, Black Women & Lockdown Easing

from "What's Good?" W/ Charlie Taylor · host The 5th Element Podcast Network

In a week where:Trump hosts "Cough-chella" Three people die & another three suffer injuries after a mass stabbing terror attack in Reading.Lewis Hamilton is starting a commission w/The Royal Academy of Engineering. Novak Djokovic tests positive for COVID-19, after months of hosting charity events and not staying inside.More than 300 black artists/executives call for Hollywood to invest more in black talent & stop glorifying police violence. In Film/TV: (7:52) Historian David Olusoga talks "Little Britain" which has recently been cut off streaming platforms for its backwards comedy. But the story goes deeper than you think. In Music: (23:06) There have been a few events that have gone down in the past week that have got me thinking about how black men talk to black women. First was J.Cole's super odd & tone-deaf "Snow On The Bluff" which was directed to vocal learner Noname. The 2nd and more important event was between Ray BLK & Ambush Buzzworl. There are levels to this, but the overall theme is that we still don't listen to black women properly. In Sports: (39:53) The NBA is returning, all located in Orlando, in a "Bubble" format. While I understand the wanting to do all this, I can't turn my head completely away from basic logic.Lastly, in Life: (51:33) On July 4th, England (Not the rest of the UK) is opening up more to include Pubs, Restaurants, hairdressers etc. Why? Why do you think?Thank you for listening!
