Send us Fan Mail Being Dead Serious podcast episode 83: The Grinning Man is now available. In the 1960s, UFO sightings were everywhere, but one encounter really took the cake: Indrid Cold-the Grinning Man. This wasn’t your average flying saucer situation—oh, no. This guy came with a huge grin, telepathic mind-melds, and a backstory so bizarre it could’ve come straight out of a sci-fi novel (or a fever dream). When West Virginia salesman Woodrow Derenberger crossed paths with Indrid, his life was never the same. But was he actually talking to an alien from a peaceful planet, or just a dude who loved attention and bad acid trips? (It was the 60's after all!) Join us as we dive into the wildest details of the Indrid Cold story, its unexpected ties to the Mothman, and the ultimate question: Was this all just one big grin-filled hoax, or is there a sliver of truth to the grinning nightmare of West Virginia? Buckle up—this one’s about to get wild and stupid. Stay Strange
