Ep.84 Gerald O’Dowd - Ministry of Arts Podcast

from Ministry of Arts Podcast

This week Gary Mansfield speaks to Gerald O’Dowd.   Gerald is a multi-disciplined artist; whose work predominantly focuses on mental health.   He had quite a hectic life growing up in Woolwich, SE London, as part of a fairly large Irish family, 4 brothers and a sister. His family would later be pushed into the limelight in the early 80’s, when his brother George formed the iconic group Culture Club.   Gerald had been experiencing mental health issues for some time, which culminated in him being diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and being held in a secure Hospital for several years.   The classes he took as art therapy, lead him into a BA and later an MA in Fine Art.   For more information on Gerald O’Dowd and his work go to www.geraldodowd.co.uk   For full line up of confirmed artists go to https://www. ministryofarts.org Email: [email protected] Social Media: @ministryofartsorg Hosted on Acast.
