I'm going to list off 4-5 games, and everyone else has to guess how much the games are worth in total. Whoever's guess is the closest wins that round, and the next person lists off their games. Everyone brought a list of games, and everyone guesses on each other's lists. At the end of the game, whoever won the most rounds wins the game! But look out for Polterguest! He guesses $300 on each list, and if he wins the game I have to give away a sticker from the merch store!" Fun fact: Data East's Fighter's History actually went to (USA) court for being too similar to street fighter.(Capcom USA inc. vs. Data East Corp.) Capcom lost the suit. Data East also claimed during their defense that Karate Champ was the true original arcade fighting game. It was ultimately ruled that the while the game was very similar, the elements taken from Street Fighter constituted a "scenes a faire" and thus would have to be permitted. \ -Branching out, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, and others find their own identity -3D fighters: Tekken, Virtua Fighter, Soul Calibur -the first claimed 3D fighter was Sega's Dark Edge, unreleased outside japan -waning popularity as arcades closed -Battle Arena Toshinden would be the first to introduce sidestepping -the rise of online play and, later, GGPO/rollback. -the neogeo -Sega platforms as the home for fighting games, esp. Saturn & dreamcast -The future of fighting games -ARMS Community Couch *allow Eric to Plug the All N Podcast, * DANVERSE Questions Follow up on "John's retro collection and potential downsizing" ChrisHL94 I am definitely feeling what John described in the last podcast. I have a fairly modest game collection, but I almost never "have" time to play them. I keep telling myself I'll play these games one day, like when the kids are older and out of the house, or when I have fewer commitments in my life. I also wonder if this "time" will ever come, and should I just sell all these games and play what I have time for. I have a feeling I know what you guys think about this, but I'd be interested in hearing it. WarriorofWASD I feel this. I have tons of unbeaten games and a wishlist that is just as big. I had to redeem my game time by sticking to motion games (VR and Switch) for exercise and multiplayer with my friends to make it a healthy hobby. Outro Thanks for listening to the RetroLogic Podcast!
