She helps to coordinate the annual commemorative trip to the Minidoka  National Historic Site near Twin Falls, Idaho. In 1942,  Minidoka was the site of an incarceration camp  where Shigaki's parents and some 13 thousand other people of Japanese ancestry,  many Americans citizens , were held  during World War II.
