This week we share our conversation with Canadian songwriter and lead guitarist Dave Baksh - better known by the name "Brownsound" to fans of his band Sum 41. We sat down with Dave to discuss the making of Sum 41s eight and final studio album Heaven :x: Hell, which was a double album released on March 29, 2024, by Rise Records. We explore how the band decided to honor its legacy by dividing the album into two discs; the first disc, Heaven, which features a return to the pop-punk style of the band's early career, and the second disc, Hell, which follows the heavy metal sound the band pursued in subsequent years. You’ll hear Dave’s thoughts on everything from crafting the perfect guitar solo to why he finds recording remotely with his bandmates so beneficial to the process these days.
