Ep 89: Mike Maple of Liquid Mike Nominates AC/DC's "Powerage"
from This One Goes to 11 · host Tyler Esselman and Michael Osinski
WE'RE BACK! And though we may not be in black, we are decidedly thunderstruck by our first guest of season 8. This week we're talking about AC/DC's 1978 album "Powerage" with real live rockstar Mike Maple of the band Liquid Mike, whose killer 2024 album "Paul Bunyan's Slingshot" earned them write-ups in Rolling Stone, Consequence, and Stereogum. (It's legit, y'all.) This might not be the album that defined AC/DC's career, but Mike makes a strong case for its visceral gut-punching power and its sheer stupidity. And maybe we also talk a little bit about Satan and football along the way. You know, the usual stuff. You can find all of Liquid Mike's music - and purchase a digital or vinyl copy of "Paul Bunyan's Slingshot" - on Bandcamp. This episode also comes as a playlist on our YouTube channel.
