Ep 90 - Mental Health Check-In: Emotional Intelligence, Compassion, and Empathy in Ourselves and Our Kids
from Still Becoming with Monica DiCristina · host Monica DiCristina
Each month, Still Becoming brings you a Mental Health Check-In episode. These episodes are focused on mental health, emotional health, or personal growth, and involve a short teaching and a few take aways in around 15 to 20 minutes. The idea is to take a therapeutic topic or technique and expand it to help us in our everyday lives. In this episode, I am sharing a longer teaching that I gave to a school about Emotional Intelligence, Compassion, and Empathy - and specifically how we develop this in ourselves as adults, and then how we help our children with this too. In this episode we will discuss our role as adults first, because the work starts with us always in caregiving. This is also designed so that if you are not a parent or in a caregiving role, you can stop the episode at that point. I hope this episode feels accessible and empowering. The more we learn to name our own experiences, have self compassion, and cope - the more empathy we can have for our neighbor near and far.
