Close to 85% of the global population, from around 188 countries, identifies with a religious group. This is close to 3.3 billion people (roughly 55%) of the world population. Of the 4,000 various religious groups, researchers often categorise them under five main headings; Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Judaism. Of these, only Christianity, Islam & Judaism would be monotheistic There are those who would argue that given these various religions, especially the monotheistic religions, all worship a supreme God, wouldn’t it be fair to say they all worship a similar, if not the same, God? Does the Bible ultimately allow for such a multiplicity of expressions when it comes to the worship of a divine being? This week, the Curious team ponders some hard and honest questions about the nature of monotheism and religion.
