This episode, we read 2 incredible stories straight out of SC Turnbo's "White River Chronicles" both depicting what life was like back in the days of the frontiersmen and the antebellum Ozarks (pre-civil war). These are real stories that take place in our backyard in places whose names you will recognize. The first story is about a prominent man, one of the original settlers who called the Ozarks home, who went hand to hand with a panther to defend his own life and his 5 year old son's life while out gathering honey one day. The second story is about a man protecting his crop by battling a bruin, showing what life was like for our ancestors back in the time when defending your crop was defending your livelihood.
