Starlight Thursdays Episode 94 Featuring BK Love. In this episode we dive head first into the Midnight Life Crisis party January 22 4am at the Legacy Lounge. A Few Words From BK Love. It’s always a pleasure to play at the new after hours spot and even more exciting to be DJing on a lineup curated by the local legend and long time Badlander resident Kris Moon. As the parties have started going later into the night in Missoula so has the energy required to cultivate an inspiring dance floor in the am. I’ve gravitated toward late night DJing for quite some time, always finding the culture to be more interesting and artistic. I think DJs are a little more comfortable taking risks mixing creatively as well as selecting tracks that they wouldn’t choose to satiate the mainstream nightclub environment. The party goers are often seeking something less conventional than what the average establishment provides. To me the true pulse of any art movement is slightly hidden from the spotlight, when it becomes mainstream it loses a lot of the elements that make it interesting. This is the environment that inspires me, keeps my blood pumping, fuels the motivation to stay up all night digging through the endless ether of digital music with dry eyes and tired ears, these are the moments I pour my soul into. Looking to keep it fresh for those listening and for myself I’ve been hunting for artists from all over the world that can grab my ear in a certain way. Lately I have been finding techno and house coming out of Tel Aviv and Siberia to take me to another level. In this mix you’ll hear a bunch of tracks from those regions composed of musical elements from African influence to Detroit techno and some fresh underground Brooklyn Deep House.
