Ep 94 | Paul Asay | Hope for those battling depression.

Rick talks with Paul Asay of Focus on the Family’s Plugged In — movie, music, TV, and video game reviewer by day... and (as Rick says) maybe wearing tights and a cape by night. Paul is also an author and speaker, joining the conversation to discuss his powerful book “Beauty in the Browns: Walking with Christ in the Darkness of Depression.” Paul has lived with depression since childhood, and in this honest conversation, he opens up about how faith, family, and creativity have helped him walk through the darkness with Christ. Rick and Paul talk about what it means to stay connected to God in hard seasons, practical steps for those struggling with depression, and how our digital world — especially our smartphones — can both help and hinder our mental health. They also dive into Paul’s passion for pop culture — from movies that surprise him (for better or worse) to the upcoming Christmas releases he’s excited about. Paul Asay is a longtime contributor to Focus on the Family’s Plugged In, author of Beauty in the Browns and God on the Streets of Gotham.
