He is proficient in conversational Mandarin and well versed in the cultural nuances and lifestyle of mainland China and gongfu culture specifically which made such an unlikely journey in gongfu possible.In 2002 he became a formal disciple of Chenyu, training the ancestral practices taught to him by his father, Chen Zhaokui.
