EP01: Richard Hawley

from Electronically Yours with Martyn Ware · host Martyn Ware

Richard Hawley is a Sheffield musical legend and fellow Sheffield Wednesday fan. He is a critically-acclaimed guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer. Hawley initially found success as a member of Britpop band Longpigs in the 1990's, and formerly Treebound Story. Richard was asked to play with Pulp by his close friend and Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker.  Since then he has created many of his own solo albums to great acclaim and winning several awards, and even been responsible for a stage musical featuring his songs called 'Standing at the Sky's Edge'. His work proudly represents the mood and emotional meaning of growing up and living in Sheffield. He is also an in-demand session player, having collaborated with many world famous recording artists. Our discussion took place in a working men's club in Sheffield, and certainly tugged at my heartstrings... Hope you like it Don't forget to email me with your ideas or comments on [email protected]
