Ep050 - Political Violence, Secret Service Failures, and a Chance to Turn Down the Heat

Over the weekend, we were millimeters away from a successful assassination attempt on Donald Trump. The failures of the Secret Service seem obvious, and will no doubt be vigorously investigated. One attendee was killed, two are in critical condition, and Trump was hit in the ear. The shooter is dead, and while we don't yet know his motivations for trying to kill the Republican presidential candidate and former president, that hasn't stopped conspiracy theories on the Right and Left from being spewed without ANY evidence. On this episode, I dive into some examples of The US Secret Services recent failures and what we actually know about July 13th and the shooter thus far. I also talk about how it's an opportunity for Trump and Biden to, from the top, demand a change in how we talk about our political opponents. It's time for both of them to take some ownership for their catastrophizing rhetoric and stop excusing their own sides bad behavior.
