Ep11 | Love, Death & Trauma: How We Show Up for Each Other in Hard Moments

from Wholehearted Loving · host Georgianna Lee + Stephanie Hunter

Hard truth: We can’t always be there for each other, or be there in the ways we might like, even if we love each other deeply. When we feel obligated to prove our love, when we feel pressure to perform even when we don’t have capacity, when we show up carrying our own baggage to someone else’s tragedy – we’ve slipped out of alignment and need to ground and centre. And we might need to protect ourselves, or our energy. And that’s okay too. We can’t always show up when our loved ones need us most – but when we can, there are ways we can do that which are more supportive and generative than others. How can we practice shifting into trust and love, and not taking things personally? How can we practice asking for support AND accepting that it might not look like we want it to? How can we connect with moments of choice even during tragic times? How can you use all the simple tools we give you to handle really hard experiences in your life? The biggest gift you can give yourself and your loved ones is to learn to regulate your nervous system. Today we talk about what that can look like when tragedy strikes. More of what we talked about: 00:25 Self-connection practice 02:35 The importance of regulating your nervous system 18:00 Choosing a relationship and choosing how you want to show up 29:00 Being consciously present and being able to choose during hard times ************** Every episode comes with prompts for journaling and reflection.
