Ep111: NB's New Bottle Recycling System (April 11/24)

David McCarthy representing most bottle depots and Frank LeBlanc, CEO of Recycle NB.Consumers are now getting 100% (used to be 50%) of the drink container rebate when they take them to a bottle depot. A new non-profit corporation, representing industry, along with a new fee (varies on product) has been set up to run the recycling operation. Currently, consumers who return their recyclables will overall be paying less except for steel cans (3-cents per can more) and wine and liquor bottles (one cent more). The new fee is industry set and managed.  GNB says the new system will result in less recyclables wasted.
