Ep114:When you feel "Gaslighted by God" Pt2- Tiffany Yecke Brooks, Ph.D.

from Java with Jen: Hearing God’s Voice in Everyday Life | Prophecy, Faith Teaching, Hearing Jesus · host Jenilee Samuel | Christian Women, Prophecy, Prayer, Healing, Spiritual Growth

PART 2: What do you do when the Christianity you signed up for is not the Christianity you feel like you're experiencing?  "Religion" has conditioned us to just keep your chin up, don't ask why, keep pressing on, and eventually God will come through.   That may work for some small moments in life, but eventually life's hardships will hit and you might find yourself a little broken and confused about your faith.  WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU FOLLOW THE RULES AND it seems like God doesn’t ? In this episode & the previous, we dive into a very REAL topic of what to do when the "formula" of following what you've been taught a "Good Christian Does" leaves you with confusion instead of the rescue or bliss you expected, and how to process the pain and disillusionment that can attach to your faith in those unexpected moments.  The good news is, God is still good, even when it doesn't feel like it, and his word is still true. (Just ask David in Psalms!) But the journey of really UNDERSTANDING that God is good, still present, and still FOR YOU can be messy, and that's ok.  Author Tiffany Yecke Brooks shares about how “deconstructing” your faith and asking God hard questions can be the greatest journey for rooting your faith even more deeply in the authenticity of knowing God for who He really is, and not limiting him to the religious genie our human natures can try to reduce him to.
