EP116: Dr Phoebe Welcome (Counselling Psychologist)

Dr Phoebe Welcome is a Counselling Psychologist and completed her PhD entitled "The women's experiences of being partners of elite male footballers in England" at the University of Manchester. She is also the wife of professional footballer Kevin Long. Kevin has represented the Republic of Ireland on 17 occasions and has played for clubs including Burnley, Birmingham City, and Toronto FC in the MLS. In this episode, Phoebe explains to hosts Dr Paul Mansell and Dr Sofie Kent about the findings of her research and offers suggestions as to how clubs and organisations can better support the romantic partners of professional athletes.
