基隆流傳一句諺語：「基隆無城，甲飽就行」，意思是基隆沒有城牆，到基隆的過客，吃飽了就走，比喻基隆缺乏吸引人落地生根的條件，只能提供簡便小吃。1624年荷蘭人入侵台南，西班牙覬覦北台灣，二年後在1626年自三貂角上陸，於社寮島今和平島建基隆唯一城「聖薩爾瓦多城」，但今已埋於中船的船塢下。應算是台灣最早的城，可惜已不復見。 -- Hosting provided by SoundOn
