此次義大利遊，第一站造訪的城市是西恩納(Siena)--1995年被聯合國教科文組織認證為世界文化遺產，西恩納以保存完整的中世紀古城風貌、人文、藝術及料理特色，當之無愧地得此殊名。古時，因為並不位在重要交通樞紐位置上，西恩納的城市重要性，一度在整個托斯卡尼大區是呈現可有可無的狀態...但他們自己努力創造關鍵生存價值，後來成為朝聖路線上的一站、也是朝聖者必經之路。因為是山城，在古樸靜謐的西恩納漫步，其實有點像在健行--因為必須崎嶇蜿蜒的巷弄裡，上上下下左彎右拐地爬走，到處都是很有老味道的古建築，好像置身中古世紀古裝片場景。西恩納的賽馬節傳統至今猶存，與馬、賽馬有關的元素也深深刻印在這座城市，喜歡馬的我也在遊逛時倍感親切！
