Ep17 - From the Yellow Pages to Podcasts and Websites

Pearls of Wisdom Podcast features Chuck Koehler, owner of Anthony Jewelers in Tennessee, and CMK Co (a wholesale trade shop that specializes in custom jewelry and repair services to the jewelry industry nationwide. Chuck also started Fingerprint Jewelry which does touch impressions.  Chuck focuses his discussion on what is going on in the jewelry business today with his tagline – "From the Yellow Pages to Podcasts and Websites".  Before business owners needed to discuss with the rep the layout of a yellow page ad. Now we talk about what to discuss in a podcast.  Jewelry stores used to get customers from the yellow pages and needed to have a good brick-and-mortar store location.  Today, Chuck advises jewelry store owners to have an online presence so that wherever they are, their customers will find them. As social media is a crowded space, Chuck says to take a closer look at the smaller social media platforms.  Much of the discussion though focuses on the topic of lab-grown diamonds. Either they sell them or do not sell them.  The jewelry industry, Chuck says, is divided on this issue. Chuck walks us through the definition of lab-grown diamonds and does an intensive discussion on the difference between natural diamonds and lab-grown diamonds.  He also talks about the take of the new generation jewelers and their prediction that lab-grown diamonds are the next big thing.
