聊完繪製偉特塔羅牌的傳奇女性Pamela Colman Smith之後，我深覺~沒有理由不好好認識創作這副牌卡的”偉特”本人--Arthur Edward Waite!! 生於1857年的偉特，有個美國人爸爸與英國人媽媽，但他與爸爸父子緣淺、很小就喪父，隨媽媽回到媽媽的祖國英國，大部分人生都在倫敦度過--於血緣跟地緣上，偉特與英國結緣比較深。人生成就緊扣神秘學研究的偉特，早年其實是對文學很感興趣的--他在工作餘暇喜歡寫短詩、有詩人身份、也辦過小雜誌，可說是個文青~但成長過程先後遭逢父親與妹妹的早逝，後來第一任妻子也故去，這些無常的生離死別或許大大震撼並觸動了偉特，使他展開對于神秘學的探究...
