Ep184: One-Handed Putting, Nick Talks 'Heads Up Putting', Mark Talks 'Formalising Acceleration', and the 'Class' of Rory McIlroy

from Talk Birdie To Me

Nick and Mark have come in with plenty to discuss, they both watched a heap of golf over the weekend and have seen some great performances that they want to discuss. The one-handed putting of Adam Schenk a highlight, and we discuss one-handed putting. Nick has been reading about a new technique called 'heads up putting' that he explains to Mark. Young pro Max Charles performed well at the weekend and Mark was particularly proud of how Max went given he has been giving him a few pointers, and pinching (with credit) some of Nick O'Hern's tips. Mark discusses what he calls 'formalising acceleration', what it is, and what it achieves. On that, Mark predicted a 64 in the Box Hill Pro Am, he didn't quite get there with his up and downs letting him down.Nick talks about 'the feel'. When you've got it, you're on. He talks through a time playing the Congressional in Washington when he had the feels, and Mark has a story about watching, and then copying Raymond Floyd.Mark gives an update on Charlie Woods and explains why he is a fan of the young fella. Nick's Touch of Class for BMW is on something that Rory McIlroy has done, and not on the golf course. We have a listen. After the turn, we touch on what went wrong with our Betr multi at the weekend. Mark and Dan blame Nick saying he put the mozz on the multi and is at fault. When you hear the facts it is hard to argue. Although Nick defends himself. If this was a court case, Nick would be found guilty and the sentence would be significant. Probably with no non-parole period. Our Betr Top 5 is less controversial than last weeks. We've had a mountain of feedback following Marks Top 5 things that Pros laugh at Amateurs for doing last week, which we'll discuss in a bonus pod later in the week.
