EP2: Marnie Schneider - Getting Kids Off the Street and Onto the Baseball Diamond

from Make Your Mark

"Ask yourself, 'What do I need to do to get things done?' And then, just do it."   When I first spoke with Marnie Schneider, I was impressed and amazed with her infectious energy and charisma, especially as it related to her Keep On Playing Foundation. We were both involved in the Standing O book project, and I found that I shared her strong interest in helping underprivileged kids get involved in playing baseball, and giving them a sense of pride while keeping them in a positive environment.   "The only way to be a leader is by showing up and being involved in your own community."   Marnie has been surrounded by sports her entire life. Her grandfather was not only an owner of the Philadelphia Eagles, but also the founder of the Ronald McDonald House. In this episode, Marnie shares about her rich family legacy. The ingenuity and success her grandfather displayed has been passed down through generations. Marnie explains how her love for sports was born, the life lessons she was able to acquire, and how she is using what she has learned to make a difference in the lives of so many.      "Making an impact is great, but making contact is better. Because once you make contact, it ignites passion… It ignites this love of giving back and being involved… this love opens up opportunity."   Marnie expounds on her current work with "Keep On Playing." Marnie elaborates our ability to influence our community, and how this can be done through our connection with youth and sports.  After you listen to this episode you will be energized, inspired and hopefully ready to Make Your Own Mark!   Some Topics we talk about in this episode:   Introduction - 0:54 Marnie's Family Legacy - 5:30 Marnie's Story - 10:35 The Birth of "Keep On Playing" - 14:12 The Vision and Mission of "Keep on Playing" - 21:40 Making 'Contact' On and Off the Field - 26:20 How and Why You Should Get Involved - 35:55 Marnie's Other Endeavors - 49:00 Wrap-up and Takeaways - 55:35   How to get involved Be sure to connect with me on Social Media @MarkMoyerCoach and go to my website, www.markmoyer.com to get access to the tips and strategies that my coaching clients get directly. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
