Ep21. Julien Bailly | Innovative Concept for Sustainable Hospitality

In this episode of Talking Hospitality, we spoke to Julien Bailly, the founder of Una Bambu in Sri Lanka. Julien shared his journey of transitioning from a career in digital marketing to creating eco-resorts made entirely of bamboo, clay, and natural materials. The main idea behind creating such a sustainable business was the importance of building without damaging the land and involving the local community in the process. Besides building a hotel, Julien developed a sustainable supply chain for bamboo and trained local carpenters in bamboo construction techniques.Nowadays, we have a critical need for all hotels to explore sustainable building alternatives and engage with local communities to create a more sustainable future for hospitality.
