EP221 Boxing, Booze & Bad Decisions. What Can Break Our Brains? | Dr Kim Gorgens

from Roll With The Punches · host Tiffanee Cook

Brains matter. According to Dr Kim Gorgens who joins me today to unpack all matters of brain health, damage, recovery & function. As a competitive boxer, occasional insomniac and teenage binge drinker along with a handful of other black marks against healthy brain development along the way I dare say Dr Kim Gorgens left me rethinking (with watch functional cells I have left) some of the experiences I have had in life. As a clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist Doc Gorgens has spent years researching, speaking and teaching around the area’s of youth sport concussion, neurorehabilitation, brain injuries and the criminal justice system, to name a few. In this podcast we talk lot about what we should be aware of when it comes to contact sport, childhood trauma, exercise and brain health – I LOVED this conversation, wouldn’t have minded having it a good 3 decades ago though.
