EP266 - Women Streamers, Trolls, and the Struggle of Female Content Creators

from The Church Digital Podcast · host Jeff Reed

It’s Ladies Night with The Church Digital Podcast. During Season Four of The Church Digital Podcast called "Jesus, Gamers and Church" we are doing a deep dive on Gaming and Nerd Culture, and how churches are aggressively reaching this mission field…  As we’ve talked on the show, there is a lot of opportunities to connect with the gamers on this digital mission field, as there’s close to 3.2 billion gamers active in the world. What may be a surprise to some is the growing percentage of women that are in the gaming world...in 2022 48% of US Gamers were women! Yet, Twitch is a heavily-driven male platform, and what few female streamers there are often deal with male chauvinistic trolls in the audience verbally harassing the streamers on many fronts. In this Girl Power episode of The Church Digital Podcast, we talk with GodSquad’s Amanda Souza and Asia the Girl, two Twitch Streamers who utilize their influence for the Kingdom. Let’s sit down and better understand what it means to be a woman streamer, and what ministry looks like for them on Twitch.
